Youth Community Action (YCA), a term coined by youth, encompasses a range of learning opportunities within the context of the Community Service Continuum from taking part in service projects to identifying local needs and changing policy. YCA is a Signature Program of Cornell Cooperative Extension, our parent organization. YCA is:

The President's Council on Service and Civic Participation introduces a new online resource, Youth Engaged in Service: How and Why to Incorporate Volunteer Service into Your Youth Program. This extensive toolkit provides those who work with youth the tools necessary to bring service into their existing programs. (Resources offered are drawn from diverse sources, including the ACT for Youth Positive Youth Development Resource Manual).

The CITY Project
The CITY Project uses YCA as an intentional process to promote civic engagement, workforce preparation, and asset development among youth.
The Garden Based Learning Program develops projects, activities, and other materials, as well as gardening content- and youth development-oriented support.
A nationwide network of young people who know they can make a difference in their communities and take action to change the world around them.
